Operation Food Basket
We donate and volunteer to help with Operation Food Basket, an emergency food source for residents of Bourbon County, open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. OFB is located in the basement of the City Building at 525 High Street in Paris. Volunteers from 18 churches staff daily food distribution. The food basket is funded by donations from churches, church members, other members of the community and various food drives conducted by businesses, churches, schools and civic groups.
Backpack Club
Many children have limited access to food once they go home after school. The Backpack Club, hosted by the UK Extension Office, provides food for students to take home on weekends. Pictured here are our volunteers filling hundreds of plastic bags for the kids. Please let us know if you’d like to volunteer!
Arts First
Arts First is a project of On The Move Art Studio, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, and First Presbyterian Church (hence the name). We are dedicated to educating and mentoring youth through visual art, chess, music, theater, and dance by providing after-school classes. Please contact us if you have a child who is interested.
Beer and Hymns
We enjoy singing hymns and building community over a beer or two. Beer and Hymns is a relaxed, no-pressure environment and everyone is invited – please join us! We often include non-hymns as well. This event is at Rose and Thorne Pub in downtown Paris. We are currently meeting on the last Friday of each month at 6:30pm.
Paris-Bourbon Community Choir
Be a part of the community choir our church hosts! The PBCC is an unauditioned ensemble comprised of 35-45 folks from all over Kentucky. Since June of 2018, we have performed in a wide variety of events in our community. The group has covered a wide variety of styles, from showtunes to Mozart, from the Beatles to African American spirituals.
We believe that making music is a gift that everyone has, and we encourage anyone who is at all interested in singing to give us a visit. We meet on Monday nights at 7:00pm in the church sanctuary.
Paris Chess Club
The church hosts the Paris Chess Club, who meets throughout the week for beginners and advanced players of all ages! This group meets on Tuesday nights at 6:00pm in the church basement. We provide pizza and drinks. Come join our growing group of chess players and keep an eye out for future tournaments!
